World Book Day 2026
World Book Day Learning and Fun
World Book Day is a registered charity which aims to change lives through a love of books and shared reading. Their mission is to promote reading for pleasure, offering every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own. Reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success – more than their family circumstances, their parents’ educational background or their income.
At Violet Way, we will be celebrating World Book Day 2026 in a number of ways. The learning focus in English across the school will be poems, songs and rhymes. All teachers will read a story daily, as usual and the children will also have stories read to them by different teachers when we have a story time swap!
On Thursday 5th March (World Book Day) children and staff are invited to come to school dressed in pyjamas. We will start the day with milk and biscuits and story time.
The children spoke and we listened!
After its success last year, we will be holding another competition to raise money for new books for our library. Children will be able to enter into a 'Guess the character' competition to raise money for new library books.
Bedtime Stories at Violet Way
Our extremely popular daily bedtime stories as part of our World Book Day celebrations will be happening this year too. Each night we will upload a story read by a different staff member for you to watch at home. Which one is your favourite? Why do you like it?
